In 1976, the independence of the Faroe Islands’ Postal Service from the Danish Postal Service is complete, and the flag of (postal) independence waves on the pole of the first, truly autonomous stamp.

The author of these stamps is once again C. Slania, who was inspired by a drawing by Fridtjof Joensen for the 125Ø stamp, and by a photograph by Otto Blehr for the 88Ø stamp (the mailman is J. P. Henriksen).
